DonorsChoose.org is dedicated to addressing the scarcity and inequitable distribution of learning materials and experiences in our public schools. Pioneered in the spring of 2000 by Charles Best, then a social studies teacher at a Bronx public school, DonorsChoose.org uses an approach called Citizen Philanthropy, treating all donors to a level of service normally reserved for established philanthopists while providing children from all walks of life with equal opportunities in education.
